Harry Potter TV Show In The Works?

Since the debut of Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone in 1997, there have followed six books in the original series, many more spinoffs, eight movies, two movie spinoffs, an entire theme park, and innumerable fanfiction. It’s safe to say that, for millions of people around the world, JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series is home. It provides a sense of everlasting comfort and happiness that, in my opinion, is still unmatched. Now, it seems the Wizarding World might be growing even more with a new TV show, set before Harry Potter’s starting years.

Though there isn’t much information out yet – my source came from another article – it’s a possibility I’m hopeful will come to fruition, especially as entertainment companies like Disney move into the streaming business having adapted ‘old’ characters – Loki, the Winter Soldier, the Red Witch etc – into new shows. Warner Brothers is already stepping into the streaming business under AT&T as WarnerMedia, at a record $16 or $17 a month. The new Harry Potter TV show could be WarnerMedia’s way of enticing consumers who would be otherwise deterred by the high price.

The question is, though, if the show is set before Harry Potter’s time at Hogwarts, could this be the introduction of the Marauders we’ve all been waiting for? Or might Warner Bros be moving the Fantastic Beasts franchise from movie to show? Both are a possibility in my opinion considering we’ve gotten nothing on the Marauders before, and, the third Fantastic Beasts movie keeps being pushed farther and farther back.

It’s still early, though, so everything is up to speculation, but I’m excited to see if and what rumours will be true.
